Dear Nora and Conor, we are glad to know that you reached Santiago safely, how nice of you to try to call us. We are still without telephone and electricity but a new guest whose house fell down has lent us a small generator. At least we can load the batteries of the computer!
It was nice to have you here in spite of the terrible circumstances. The Swedes left today hoping that their flight is still on for Friday.
We wish all guests were like you.

All the best and hoping to see you again some time.

Wow, very scary stuff. I have to agree with both Andrew and Vicky:

1. be prepared when you travel, I’m sure it’s chaos out there and there are always those who try to take advantage of situations like this.
2. Since you’re ok, celebrate the fact that this is yet another very intense experience in the wonderful life that you lead. Kaku says that, in general, you two are very lucky, we all agree

we are sooooo glad to hear from you and that you are safe !!! dont try anything stupid tomorrow, please – stay safe until the roads are really open. quite a few highways and bridges are damaged and in parts also completely broken as seen on TV and Internet…
at least make sure you have enough gas before leaving…
