Far Away From Everything. Literally.

Dear reader,

There are no two ways about it: the south-west of Australia is gorgeous. It’s also in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Which is maybe why it’s so gorgeous. Because to get there takes wayyyyy too long. And not just because the authorities decided it would be fun to take a train for days instead of hopping on a plane for four hours. (I’m not holding a grudge. Really, it’s fine. All I’m saying is next time you ask before you plan something batshit crazy like this, m’kay?!)

Anyway, so it’s gorgeous. Perth is a cute little town with lots of parks, water, beaches and whatnot. Everyone’s fit and gorgeous and the food is delicious. But, you know, at the end of the world. Also, it’s expensive if I heard the authorities right. I don’t handle money much myself but apparently you need a lot of it here.

Look at this though!

The place we stayed at was in the suburbs but it had a park with a huge playground next door and barbecues all over the place so you could bring your dinner to the park.

And because Perth wasn’t far enough away from everything yet, the authorities rented a car and drove us even further south to a place called Margaret River. It’s a 3 hour ride but with BabyPaw in the car that turns into a good day’s drive. Man, does that kid get bored quickly… The upside was that we got to see lots of fun stuff along the way.

At the end of the jetty they had built a little underwater viewing station so you could see all the fish and marine life that’s grown around the pylons. It was really quite neat, especially that one fish that still had a hook in his mouth. (The announcer lady assured us he was fine. Just looked like a punk until the hook would naturally be pushed out with time.)

So yeah, Western Australia is the place to be if you want gorgeous nature. And don’t much care for other people. Highly recommended.

In other news, we’ll soon be traveling in time. We leave Melbourne Friday afternoon and will land in Hawaii Friday morning. I don’t know who the authorities had to bribe to get this done but I am very excited.

Later gators,
SmallPaw
